Summary Description:  The Director of Assessment and Institutional Research is a full-time, benefit eligible position reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.  This role conducts evidence-based research on the university through the collection, analysis, publication, and evaluation of data for continuous improvement of programs, and for accreditation documentation.  The director of assessment and institutional research is also responsible for support and leadership of the assessment of academic programs and support units of the university.

Primary Job Duties:

• Conduct evidence-based research on Warner Pacific University.
• Maintain oversight of the assessment functions of the university including designs and data requirements for meeting standards of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the accrediting agency.
• Prepare analyses of the critical functions and practices of the university.
• Provide leadership over external and internal data collection and timely submission including IPEDS to maintain compliance requirements
• Propose recommendations based on data for improvements in the practices and policies of the institution.
• Assist in building and maintaining data visualization tools (Power BI) for access by various departments.
• Work across the university to streamline data collection, reporting, and access.
• Assist in writing reports and documents for NWCCU and other accreditation, institutional research, assessment, or curriculum-related reports.
• Provide leadership in assessment planning across the institution through various committee work, including as committee chair.
• Assist employees with assessment planning and implementation of annual plans and data collection.
• Maintain oversight of the assessment functions of the university according to the standards of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
• Provide leadership in assessment planning by chairing the Academic Assessment Committee, reporting on assessment results, and making recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Lead in the development and adoption of standards, rubrics, and student learning outcomes
• Assist faculty with assessment planning and implementation of annual plans and data collection.
• Manage administration of WPU’s assessment software, including training of new users, input or update of new standards and/or rubrics, mapping courses and artifacts to standards and rubrics, creating assessment reports, etc.
• Serve as the leader for the Academic Data Team to regularly produce disaggregated data reports in order to better understand the current student academic experience and support equity and continuous improvement.
• Represent Academic Affairs in committees and as assigned
• Serve as co-chair for the Institutional Review Board (IRB); manage all paperwork for the IRB, monitor the IRB email account for the university, and ensure all faculty and students get necessary CITI or other authorized training.
• Contribute to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
• Assist with data collection and evaluation for university grants
• Participate in Warner Pacific University professional development opportunities.
• Adhere to University policies and procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience with statistical analysis.
• Experience with computer-based communication, statistical, survey, and document-processing software.
• Experience using and maintaining data visualization and analysis tools (Power BI/Tableau)
• Ability to formulate, direct and maintain plans related to institutional research and assessment.
• Experience in higher education, particularly related to research or assessment issues
• Master’s Degree in related field
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in related field
• Previous experience in institutional research and assessment

Physical Demands – Work Environment:  The position is located in a typical office environment.  Professional/business casual attire is required.
