Posted: 25-May-22 Location: Corvallis, Oregon Salary: Open Internal Number: 119577 Internal Job Number: P03580CT Description: The Oregon State University Extension Service invites applications for one part-time (approximately 38 hours per week) Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA) position serving Multnomah County. This position is with the Extension Family and Community Health program (affiliated with OSU's College of Public Health and Human Sciences) and based at the Extension Service office in Portland. This position has a priority designation for working with Spanish speaking audiences through using bilingual/bi-literate/bi-cultural skills. Extension programs in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences align toward a common vision of lifelong health and well-being for individuals, families, and communities. The central purpose of this position is to extend the knowledge and research of OSU to the communities of Oregon in a manner that is responsive to local needs and respectful of local norms and culture. The incumbent joins a network of campus-and community-based Extension faculty and staff who share this responsibility for community engagement. Purpose of the Position This EPA1 position is part of the Extension Family and Community Health nutrition education programs, including the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed). EFNEP is a nutrition education program targeting families with young children. Interventions include hands-on learner-centered direct education. SNAP-Ed is a nutrition education and obesity prevention program targeting SNAP eligible audiences. Programs are designed to promote healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle. All programming is done in collaboration with community partners, such as schools, food banks and pantries, and government and non-profit agencies. Funding is provided by USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) for EFNEP and USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through a contract with Oregon Department of Human Services for SNAP-Ed. This position will work under the supervision of the Multnomah County FCH/EFNEP/SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member. Programs are implemented in-person or remotely, in a manner that measures impact, fosters program improvement and strengthens community connections. This position require travel to various sites within the county it serves. Lived experience in Latinx or Hispanic culture, leveraging diverse communities' cultural strengths as resources in planning or programming. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion. Ability to work as a collaborative team member with other professionals and/or volunteers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030 et seq.
