Chemeketa Community College welcomes applications for a Full-time Writing Instructional Specialist.                      

Position Summary:

Chemeketa seeks a student-focused, success-oriented individual to serve as the Writing Instructional Specialist. Chemeketa’s Tutoring Services promotes student success and retention through interactions with department-trained tutors who foster independent and resourceful learning. As the instructional specialist, you will recruit, hire, and train tutors; work directly with writing students; and engage in department and college efforts to increase student success and retention. This position serves as the liaison to the writing department to stay current on curriculum and relevant department changes, and ensures peer tutors are prepared to support writing students across the college. This position will play a key role in redefining writing support in the new Guided Pathways setting and its role in a forthcoming integrated academic support service area
 
The successful candidate will have a successful academic record in writing coursework, experience tutoring or providing academic support to adult learners in writing, practical experience developing and/or delivering training, and skills to build and maintain a network of contacts to support students and tutors.

Salary:     $3,550.00 - $5,425.00 Monthly

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's Degree from an accredited institution 

-AND-

Two years of progressively responsible experience in writing, editing and/or proofreading 

-AND-

One year of full-time equivalent experience tutoring at adult or high school levels in the subject area with demonstrated “A” or “B” grades in Writing coursework (successful completion of nationally recognized certification program at Level I or higher may be used as a substitute for 6-months experience) 

-------OR-------

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with demonstrated “A” or “B” grades in Writing coursework

-AND-

One year of full-time equivalent experience tutoring at high school or adult levels in the subject area (successful completion of nationally recognized certification program at Level I or higher may be used as a substitute for 6-months experience)
