The Womens and Childrens Services Grants and Contract Manager (GM) is part of a Sponsored Project Administration & Finance Shared Service team (SAT). SAT groups provide support to a combination of departments and institutes within OHSU. The SAT groups provide comprehensive sponsored project administrative and financial management for the primary appointed facultys grants, contracts, clinical trials and sponsored project programs. The GM oversees and leads the SAT Pre-award subgroup. The Pre-award group is responsible for managing all aspects of both individual investigator and large scale collaborative grants. Responsibilities of the group will include investigator education in the pre-award process; analysis and understanding of sponsor requirements and PI eligibility for new programs/applications, institutional, and award policies with regards to pre-award processes; preparation and scientific review facilitation of grant applications; multiple laws and University policies; contract negotiation, execution, and terms and conditions management; award negotiation, receipt, and processing; and pre-award correspondence and follow-up, and post-award amendments and negotiation.
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with major courses in Accounting, Finance, or related field AND 6 years of progressively responsible experience in grant administration.
In the absence of a degree, 3 additional years of grant management experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Advanced degree may be preferred in which a Masters will substitute 1 year of the required experience.
Knowledge of grant preparation and research administration.
Experience at an academic medical center in the areas of both clinical and basic science.
Excellent writing and communications skills required.
Team building and employee engagement skills.
Organizational change management and strategic planning experience.
Skilled in organizational behavior and human resource management.
Must have excellent customer service skills, and of computer use.
Skills in word processing, graphics, and database including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), PubMed, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop required.
Able to adapt to ever changing technology.
Business like, excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with personnel at all levels; must be self-motivated.
Must be able to be absolutely reliable for deadlines.
Must have efficient and organized work habits, and be flexible to handle needs as they arise.
Graduate Degree in Research Administration, Business Administration.
Eight to ten years of sponsored project administration, including submission and management of complex, multi-site consortia, federal and non-federal contracts, interdepartmental center grants and program projects, core infrastructure awards.
3-5 years leading sponsored project team and/or management experience.
Discoverer and InfoEd knowledge.
Experience with electronic submission of grant applications via Grants.gov
