The OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute Clinical Trials Program is involved in dozens of cardiovascular clinical trials. Trial participation provides access to our patients to more treatments for cardiovascular conditions than anywhere else in Oregon.

This position provides clinical patient care and clinical research-related patient care in accordance with allied health privileges granted by OHSU. This mid-level provider is under the supervision of Scott Chadderdon, MD and provides patient care consistent with the credentials and the philosophy of the Department of Medicine, University Hospitals and Clinics.
Research-related activities are conducted in accordance with all federal, state and institutional requirements. The research-related activities include screening of new patients who are candidates for protocols, medically managing them while on a protocol and providing their follow-up care. This medical management includes assessment of acute and non-acute clinical problems and toxicities, taking histories and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting data obtained from diagnostic tests and laboratory studies, ordering the appropriate medications and treatments, and providing patient and staff education. Research-related activities also include administrative duties including support of appropriate study selection, reporting requirements and study development.
The advanced practice provider functions in a manner which maintains the confidentiality and privacy of each patient, promotes a positive relationship with all health team members and supports the policies and procedures of the University Hospitals and Clinics
Current Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon
State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges
ACNP or AGACNP required for inpatient services
ACLS and BLS certification
Current and Active Physician Assistant license for State of Oregon
ACLS and BLS certification
Note: A completed practice agreement is required, post-offer/pre-hire
2 years of prior experience as an APP
Experience working with cardiology patients
Membership in a professional organization
Experience working with patients/participants in clinical research/trials
Experience in an academic medical center
