The purpose of this position is to support the Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care in managing its research repository of biological specimens and data, by consenting patients, collecting tissue and blood samples in collaboration with OHSU clinics, and ensuring safe storage and accurate recording of the samples.
Picking up human specimens in the clinic
Potentially processing blood in the lab
Data entry and maintaining and querying a database of participants in multiple studies
Informing potential patients about pancreas research studies
Consenting and enrolling appropriate patients
Assisting with the growth and maintenance of a community registry of potential research participants
OHSU is currently in Modified Operations during the COVID-19 pandemic and until this changes some telework will be required for this position. A laptop will be provided but the employee must have internet access athome.
Bachelor's Degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research; OR Associate's degree (2 yr) and 3 years of relevant experience
Strong skills with computers, organizational abilities, and data management
Ability to follow direction while working independently
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with data entry
Punctual and reliable
Flexibility in schedule (start time might differ due to patient appointments)
Professional and caring demeanor and appropriate attire is required for patient interactions
Ability to telework
Willingness and enthusiasm for increasing own understanding of cancer research background and methods
One to three years of relevant experience
