This position is in the laboratory of Dr. Sara A. Courtneidge, Professor in the Department of Cell, Developmental and Cancer Biology. The Courtneidge lab focuses on how cancers invade, metastasize, and respond to therapy, and specifically how the tyrosine kinase Src and its substrates, Tks4 and Tks5, are involved in cancer progression.
The Research Assistant 2 will provide support to ongoing lab research studying mouse models of cancer progression. Responsibilities include:
Assisting in research projects, performing laboratory experiments, assisting in data analysis & problem solving regarding experiments, under close supervision of the lab manager
General lab upkeep and housekeeping
Bachelor's degree with major courses in field of research OR Associate's degree and 3 years of relevant experience
Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks, have strong organizational and problem solving skills, strong attention to detail and ability to follow directiona and work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English
Self-motivated, strong work ethic and innovative
Skilled in tissue culture techniques, biochemistry and other basic laboratory assays
Two years of research experience in a research labarotory
Small animal (mouse) handling/research experience including but not limited to histological tissue sample preparation from mouse tissues, small animal surgery, IHC and Immunofluorescene microscopy
Gene expression experience
