The School of Psychological Science at Oregon State University invites applications for up to 2 full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term Instructor positions to begin September 16, 2020 (start date negotiable). Expected duties include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, mentoring graduate teaching assistants, and providing appropriate service that contributes to the effectiveness of the School, College, University, and the profession. Reappointment is at the Discretion of the Director.
The School offers BA and BS degrees, an undergraduate minor, and a Ph.D. in Psychology with concentration areas in Applied Cognition, Health, and Engineering Psychology. Undergraduate Psychology majors at Oregon State University have diverse interests, including program evaluation, clinical and community mental health, human-computer interaction, marketing and human resources, and experimental research. The individual(s) hired in this position(s) will contribute to an ongoing and successful effort to design and implement a robust, rigorous, modern, psychological quantitative methods courses relevant to their graduate school and career goals.

The individual(s) hired for this position will teach 11 courses per 9-month academic year (4-4-3), including quantitative methods in psychology (psychological statistics), research methods, and an advanced research, writing intensive senior seminar in Educational Psychology, Clinical Research Methods, Addictions, or topic related to expertise based on curricular needs. Additional opportunities to teach graduate seminars, Honors sections, and special topics seminars related to area of expertise are also possible, depending on curricular needs.

Demonstrated effective and innovative teaching in quantitative methods, statistics, and psychological research methods using inclusive and research-informed pedagogy to reduce achievement gaps between minoritized and historically under-represented populations and other groups, reduce statistics/math anxiety, improve student learning in courses with traditionally high fail rates.
