A new postdoctoral fellow position is available in the lab of Dr. Michael Hutchens. The Hutchens lab studies heart-kidney interactions in critical illness, focusing on novel signaling and transport mechanisms which contribute to acute and chronic kidney disease. The fellow will test hypotheses using rodent models particularly murine cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, epithelial and myocyte cell culture, and molecular biology techniques.Based on hypothesis testing, will design experiments, analyze data, write manuscripts, and present at research conferences.Advanced in vivo physiologic measurements including multiphoton in vivo renal microscopy and real-time fluorescence determination of glomerular filtration rate are additional techniques which will be learned and practiced by the successful candidate. A high level of engagement in these projects, including the ability to provide pivotal conceptual and technical input, is essential.
