The American College of Surgeons (ACS) has developed a program for new surgeons who have completed residency and are entering into the practice of general surgery. The Mastery in General Surgery Program will support the transition to independent practice in general surgery through:
Building autonomy, decision-making, and clinical skills
Developing experience in practice management, leadership, and quality improvement
Learning the business of medicine
Launching your career in general surgery

The Instructor is part of the Mastery of Surgery program (known formerly as the Transition to Practice Program) andwill work six months at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, ORand six months at Adventist Health System in Portland, OR.
The Instructor is responsible for clinical patient care and teaching for residents and interns as assigned by the supervising physicians at the primary facility and OHSU.
Medical Degree conferred from accredited institution
Graduationfrom accredited resident program in General Surgery
Demonstrated aptitude and existing skills for Fellow, General Surgery.
Ability to work in Portland, OR and Astoria, OR(6 month rotation at each)
Ability to work a variable schedulebased on clinic needs and location
