Oversee the daily operations of Engineering Student Services (ESS), including student advising, co-op education and internships, career services, recruiting and retention activities, mentorship program, and student success initiatives. Manage and develop Engineering Student Services teams.
Train, manage, and professionally develop ESS staff. Create highly successful student services teams that provide excellent customer service. Plan, develop, and implement student success initiatives including programs for high achieving successful students and programs for at-risk students to increase retention and success to graduation. Plan, develop, and implement initiatives to improve the student experience. Provide input and support for success of current programs for Engineering students, including the honors program, career services, internships & co-ops, and the mentorship program. Plan and coordinate events and workshops for students, including newly admitted students. Provide guidance to and manage incentives for student organizations to enhance overall student engagement, support recruiting activities, and promote community for engineering students. Advise students, especially during heavy advising period, and work with student advising team to continuously find the best ways to support all students interested in Engineering. Assist in running and managing pre-college outreach including academic year outreach events and summer outreach camps. Prepare reports and participate in data-driven analyses and decision-making.
Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an advising, counseling, administrative, or educational capacity working with students or the equivalent experience. Successful supervising experience. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports; ability to work effectively with diverse populations; excellent organizing and coordinating skills; ability to develop effective plans for achieving short and long-range goals; ability to manage student workers; ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; knowledge of standard office equipment; knowledge of Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); ability to use email and access information on the Internet; and ability to develop and deliver presentations.
Master's degree, preferably in education, engineering, student services, or a related field working to create student success. Experience planning and developing programs for new and continuing students. Experience successfully supervising professional staff and developing high functioning teams.
