The Department of Earth and Environmental Systems at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee invites applications for a tenure-track position in Structural Geology and Sedimentology/Stratigraphy.

The successful candidate will teach these field-based courses every other year and will participate regularly in the Physical Geology course. The department encourages additional courses that could include geomorphology, geophysics, tectonics, or other courses within the applicant’s interests. There is an opportunity to develop a bi-annual field course conducted in the United States or abroad.

The University of the South, with 1,650 undergraduates and a School of Theology, is located on a 13,000-acre forested tract on the Southern Cumberland Plateau. The ten-member Department of Earth and Environmental Systems offers four majors: Geology, Forestry, Natural Resources and the Environment, and Environment and Sustainability, as well as a certificate in Watershed Sciences. The forests, soils, geology, and hydrology of the University’s property are used extensively in teaching and research.
