The Department of Crop & Soil Science invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, Fixed-Term, Faculty Research Assistant position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
This position, as an agricultural (seed crops) Faculty Research Assistant, with appointment assignment to the seed physiology and extension projects in the Department of Crop and Soil Science. The incumbent contributes to the missions of the Oregon State University Extension Service and Agricultural Experiment Station with principle responsibility for providing technical support for the seed physiology and extension projects in the Department of Crop and Soil Science.

Requires Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to the field in which research is being conducted.
B.S. degree in agronomy, crop science, plant science, horticulture, or a related field.
Experience in operating farm or research-scale field equipment.
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity through project teaching, public outreach, and hiring activities.
Experience in commercial or research crop management.
Experience with computer spreadsheet and word processing programs and with statistical analysis software.
Experience with field research techniques including experimental design, maintenance, and evaluation of field plots; data collection and statistical analysis; and literature research is also required.
A demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.
The successful applicant must have or be able to obtain within three months of hiring an Oregon demonstration/research pesticide applicator's license.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq.
The work for this position is conducted in an office, lab, and greenhouse setting, and outdoor field work is also required.
