This search is to fill 2 vacancies, one in Health and Physical Education and one in Exercise and Health Science The Division of Education, Health and Leadership at Southern Oregon University (SOU) is seeking candidates for a full-time, nine month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Health and Physical Education. The Health and Physical Education department's undergraduate programs prepare students for work and/or graduate studies in exercise and sport science, health education and promotion, teaching and coaching, athletic training and allied health pursuits related to clinical exercise science. The ideal candidate will demonstrate passion, experience and expertise in health and wellness promotion and health education. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate courses in health education, community health, environmental health, stress management, drug and alcohol education, worksite wellness promotion and etiology, pathology of disease, and health and physical education teaching methods. Other courses related to the candidate's strengths may be assigned. Additional responsibilities include student advising, departmental, university and community service, networking with community partners, project supervision, collaborative curriculum development and program assessment, supervising student teachers in field placements, and other responsibilities as assigned. The Division of Education, Health and Leadership at Southern Oregon University (SOU) is also seeking candidates for a full-time, nine month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Exercise and Health Science. The department's undergraduate programs prepare students for work and/or graduate studies in exercise and sport science, health education, health and wellness promotion, teaching and coaching, athletic training as well as other allied health clinical professions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate passion, expertise and experience in exercise and sport with an understanding of the complexities related to clinical fields. Teaching responsibilities may include coursework in kinesiology, biomechanics, care and prevention of athletic injuries, therapeutic exercise and modalities, physical assessment and evaluation and other courses as assigned. Additional responsibilities include student advising, departmental, university and community service, networking with community partners, project supervision, collaborative curriculum development and program assessment. Southern Oregon University is a public liberal arts institution of approximately 6,000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students. The surrounding area is known for cultural offerings such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Ashland International Film Festival, and the Britt Music Festival.
