The Member Services Coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for Rec Center members for the successful operation of the Member Services front desk and generating sales. This position provides direct supervision of 40 student staff and reports to the Associate Director of Business Services. A collaborative relationship with other staff members of Campus Rec; especially the Operations staff is critical. The Member Services Coordinator provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for access control, customer service, and business operations. This position also plays an integral role in Campus Rec's strategic plan and student development while serving as an active member of the Portland State Community, serving on committees and attending events.

oBachelor's degree from an accredited university and three years of professional experience ~or~ oMaster's Degree and one year of professional experience. Professional experience must include the following:
Previous experience in the administration of facility operation or customer service, preferably in a university setting (Graduate Assistant experience can count for one year).
Previous experience in member retention and recruitment, customer service, and point of sales operations.
Previous experience in supervising a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within established and ad hoc teams.
A self-starter able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and have exceptional attention to detail. oAbility to work varied hours including evenings and weekends. oMust successfully pass a criminal background check.
oMaster's degree from an accredited university in Physical/Health Education, Recreation, Student Services, Sports Management or related field and three or more years professional experience in the administration of fitness center operations, preferably in a university setting. oExperience working with and supervising a team of student staff. oKnowledge of industry best practices in a collegiate recreation setting related to membership services including membership sales, merchandise sales, and equipment/locker rental. oKnowledge of RecTrac or other facility management software. o Demonstrated experience supporting and enhancing an inclusive and culturally respectful environment.
