The Anthropology department in the School of Social Sciences at UC Irvine is seeking a highly motivated, effective communicator with strong administrative skills and proven leadership ability to successfully manage the department's faculty, staff, students, programs and initiatives. As a member of the School of Social Sciences' leadership team, the incumbent is tasked with upholding and exemplifying excellence in the University's core competencies-- job mastery, goal accomplishment, enterprise contribution and innovation-- while representing the Chair and Department to members of the campus, UC system and the community at large. As the University continues to expand and shift culturally, it is imperative that the incumbent is a team player, supporting change management at the department level while aiding in the facilitation of effective change School-wide. Reporting directly to the Chair and indirectly to the Assistant Dean, and with general direction, the Department Administrator plans and directs all administrative functions of the Anthropology department in the School of Social Sciences. The Department of Anthropology, home department of Dean Bill Maurer, is comprised of 19 senate faculty, 5 non-senate faculty (lecturers), 226 undergraduate students and 61 PhD students, with approximately 45 Teaching Assistants per quarter. The Administrator is tasked with analyzing needs, establishing short and long-range objectives and implementing effective organizational planning to meet instructional, research and programmatic goals of the department. Responsible for the management, strategic planning for- and leadership of -all administrative activities in the department, including fiscal management of departmental finance, payroll, academic/staff/student human resources, internal controls and contract management. Oversees inventories of all departmental space and equipment, as well as their assignment, utilization and safety procedures.

Salary: Annual $65,564.00 - $89,432.00 Total Hours: 8-5, M-F Career Position. Final candidate subject to background check.
