The Assistant Director is responsible for oversight of the WRC’s leadership programming and cultivating activities that promote the vision of the WRC. This includes providing mentorship and leadership skill development training/support to student employees, the leadership cohort, and practicum/internship positions.
This also includes planning and overseeing events, participating in on- and off-campus collaborations, campus-wide committee work, and on- and off-campus resource referrals for students.
This position acts as a full member of the Advocacy team, participating in an on-call rotation for after-hours needs, as well as ongoing training and, on occasion, providing confidential advocacy during business hours if needed.
This position supervises multiple student staff as well as practicum and internship students. This is a full time, represented position. Occasional after-hours and weekend event attendance is required. Acting in an on-call capacity for confidential advocacy 2 weeks per month is required.
- BA/BS with 3+ years of related experience
-Understanding of intersecting socio-economic statuses and how they impact student retention and college success.
-A demonstrated commitment to feminist theoretical frameworks, community building, intersectionality and creating social change through dialogue, civility and civic engagement
-Organized, flexible, and self-directed with the ability to work as part of a team and provide leadership
-Event planning, training, and public speaking experience
-Experience with student leadership development practices, including providing mentorship, coaching and evaluation. Volunteer & student staff management experience
-Experience with crisis intervention, problem-solving, resources and referral
-Expertise in student affairs and program development
-Master’s with 1+ year of experience
-Professional level related experience in the educational issues facing different groups of women
-Strong office organization and administrative skills
- 2+ years of student supervision or volunteer management experience
- 2+ years providing sexual & relationship violence advocacy to diverse populations
- 1+ year teaching or group facilitation experience
-Experience working at an urban university
