The temporary Proposal Development Assistant will be assisting Faculty, Departmental Research Administrators, and Grants and Agreements Analysts with sponsored projects proposal development including:
Developing and coordinating sponsored project budgets using Excel templates that correctly calculate and apply appropriate institutional rates and accurately reflect the financial requirements and obligations for carrying out the project.
Examining proposals for fiscal viability, completeness, and compliance with sponsor requirements and relevant regulations.
Serving as liaison and active partner among principal investigators, SPA Grants & Agreements Teams, research groups, and other departments to ensure accurate, timely, and complete proposal submissions.
Securing the internal approvals required for proposal submission.
Hours will vary between 20 and 40 per week. This assignment will be for between three and six months.
Required Education: 1 or more years of related experience, specifically, pre-award (proposal development and/or submission) for sponsored projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to organize workload priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, be flexible in responding to stressful situations, cope with unexpected job demands, and deal with frequent interruptions.
Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to understand, convey and advise on complex regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a diverse set of individuals and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment across organizational units.
Dedication to providing optimum service to customers.
Demonstrated skills with MS Office applications including Excel and Word.
