Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Division of Materials Science and Engineering with Iowa State University at the Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate.
The postdoc will conduct research in theoretical condensed matter physics as part of the research group led by Peter P. Orth. Potential research directions include non-equilibrium dynamics in topological and correlated systems, quantum magnetic and superconducting phases, quantum criticality, non-linear magneto-optical response in magnetic semimetals, and transport in quantum materials. Part of this work is performed within the DOE Energy Research Frontier Center “CATS: Center for the Advancement of Topological Semimetals”.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will be able to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences. The individual must be able to work effectively with team members.
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline must be completed prior to start date.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Research experience in theoretical condensed matter physics.
Strong analytical skills relevant for the study of correlated materials.
Research experience in (at least) one of the potential research subfields mentioned in the job advertisement.
