The College of Education at Portland State University is seeking a 0.50 variable FTE 9-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment, at the Assistant Professor of Practice level in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy (ELP) PK-12 Executive Leadership Program, starting September 16, 2019.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Participate fully in the collaborative leadership of the department, college, and university;
Teach courses in the core educational leadership areas for the master's and licensure programs in a face-to-face, online, and hybrid model;
Network with districts and schools increasing relevancy and responsiveness to emerging needs;
Facilitate cohort development and lead cohort classes;
Supervise students in administrative practicum experiences in community schools;
Advise master's students;
Perform professional service that connects to the needs of practitioners and policy makers; and
Participate actively in state and national professional organizations.
Earned MA or/and MS degree
Administrative leadership experience in PK-12 PUBLICSCHOOL education with demonstrated success reducing educational disparities based on race, SES, and/or home language;
Demonstrated past commitment to shared decision-making;
Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of communication modes (face-to face; email; online tools) and within a timely fashion;
Successful experience in culturally-diverse settings;
Demonstrated successful experience in teaching educational leadership courses;
Experience engaging in school/university partnerships with a focus on equity and diversity;
Ability to facilitate course and program assessment and redesign;
Experience coordinating and assessing programs;
Ability to represent the university in policy discussions at the state and national level;
Experience supervising field work of educational leadership candidates;
Broad background in instructional leadership, school-community relations, organizational policy and management, human/fiscal resources, organizational systems, and/or outcomes assessment with a demonstrated focus on equity for historically underserved populations;
Recognition by the field as an exemplary leader for equity as demonstrated by local, state and/or national awards, recognition by state and/or professional organizations, school board proclamation, community organizations, elected/appointed office in state and/or national professional organizations, and/or in the media.
Successful completion of background check.
Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Educational Administration;
Experience with, and commitment to using technology as a tool for teaching and learning, course development, and instructional delivery;
Experience supervising the dissertation research of doctoral students.
Currently holds or has held State of Oregon administrative licensure credentials.
