Department Summary The Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation (OVPRI) promotes excellence in research at the University of Oregon. Research, both basic and applied, is fundamental to the mission of the University and is essential to Oregon’s economic and civic vitality. The office is committed to enhancing these efforts by providing administrative and financial support for sponsored programs, including identification of funding opportunities, proposal submission, research compliance, and contracts and grant administration. The office supports interdisciplinary research centers, essential core facilities and emboldens innovation and economic development through strategic partnering and technology transfer initiatives. The UO has a long tradition of interdisciplinary research that continues through the production of new knowledge and innovative solutions to society’s grand challenges.
Position Summary This position provides fiscal and administrative office support for the Office of Research and Innovation, and confidential, project-related administrative support to the Sr. Associate Vice President for Research and Innovation. The VPRI portfolio consists of the following campus units: Research Finance and Business Administration, Sponsored Projects Services, Innovation Partnerships/Technology Transfer, Research Compliance Services, Research Development Services, Research Core Services, and Research Technology Services. The VPRI also oversees multiple Research Centers and Institutes on campus. The VPRI, as a member of the University of Oregon central leadership team, engages frequently with other senior University officials, as well as a variety of internal and external University community members. This position reports to the VPRI Executive Assistant/Operations Manager.
Minimum Requirements • Associates degree and five years of experience in an executive support position; OR Bachelor’s degree and two years of high-level executive support OR an equivalent combination of education and experience to equal seven years. • Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (or similar scheduling/calendar program); Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree. • Professional work experience in higher education. • Experience with project management software systems. • BANNER proficiency or like platform. • Executive support or administrative experience in a large, complex organization.
