This is administrative/professional work in the area of the student accounts office.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Analyzes student account receivable, tuition revenue, and financial aid on a monthly basis for internal financial statements.
Reconciles and prepares monthly journal entries related to student loan transactions.
Reviews and processes student loan advances and student loan refunds.
Manages federal Direct Loan drawdowns and reconciliation of funds.
Prepares annual federal reports (FISAP and AOR) required for federal loan programs.
Handles student inquiries via phone, email and in person.
Assists with student retention efforts.
Ensures timely preparation and completion of various year end schedules and work papers pertaining to student accounts used by the independent auditors in conjunction with their examination of the university’s financial statements.
Performs various regular and ad hoc projects, as assigned by the Manger of Student Accounts, Controller, and the Assistant Controllers.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
Prior work experience in higher education or related non-profit accounting environment.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
3-5 years related work experience.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as it pertains to not for profits, specifically FAS 116 and FAS 117.
Working knowledge of other general accounting principles.
Demonstrated knowledge of general accounting routines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong customer service orientation.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
