The English Language Institute at the University at Buffalo invites applications for Adjunct Instructors to teach credit bearing or non-credit English as a second language courses.
The credit-bearing courses include undergraduate level, courses in spoken English, in written English, and a graduate level course in Communication skills for International Teaching assistants. Each credit-bearing class typically meets two or three times per week.
The non-credit Intensive English program includes courses in academic writing, speaking and listening, and in reading. Instructors in the Intensive English Program teach daily, five days per week.
Specific responsibilities for ELI Adjunct Instructors include:
Prepare lesson plans based on ELI's established syllabi, and deliver classroom based instruction.
Evaluate student class work, assignments, and papers; develop and evaluate student quizzes and tests. Maintain related student records, such as grades, attendance, pre or post testing data. Proctor exams.
Participate in departmental meetings and professional development events.
Instructors teaching credit-bearing courses are to maintain office hours.
Applications are being accepted on an on-going basis, and positions will be filled as needed on a semester by semester basis.

A Bachelor's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field, with current full-time enrollment in a Master's program in TESOL or a related field. One year of related teaching experience.
Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field. Teaching experience at college or university level to adults. Working knowledge of Blackboard, the learning management system at UB.
