The web application security engineer is responsible for ensuring that web applications, integrations with those applications, and the underlying infrastructure meet strict standards for information security. OHSU\u2019s web applications are expected to meet the highest possible standards for confidentiality, integrity, and availability based on industry standards and regulatory requirements.
In collaboration with web engineers and the cybersecurity teams at OHSU, the web application security engineer helps maintain and grow a collection of security tools used to monitor, identify, and resolve risks in custom web applications. The web application security engineer may also be involved in audits, code reviews, and penetration testing in partnership with other ITG groups or third-party vendors.
The web application security engineer works closely with web application developers, engineers, and application owners across OHSU. This involves leading threat modeling exercises, educating the OHSU community on secure development practices, helping developers to interpret output of security scans, and identifying solutions that can be implemented in application code.
