Department Summary The Undergraduate Advising Office of the Lundquist College of Business is a fast-paced, customer-focused office that serves over 4,600 pre-business, business, and accounting majors and minors. The Recruiter and First Year Admissions Coordinator will be a member of a close-knit student services team of highly motivated professionals that has a longstanding reputation for providing excellence in student services. The successful candidate will share in the commitment to meet the needs of students through innovative, high quality, and efficient delivery of services. This position requires a strong commitment to serving the needs of students, and working collaboratively in a collegial, supportive environment.
Position Summary The Undergraduate Recruiter and First Year Admission Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will be strategic planning and management of the College’s undergraduate recruitment and outreach process with the goals of recruiting a diverse pool of students and marketing the Lundquist College undergraduate program. Special emphasis will be on out-of-state and international students, managing external communications with prospective applicants and admitted students, helping to manage first year direct admit process, and participating in the standard admission process. This position will also supervise the Lundquist College of Business Duck Guides Program, a group of 9-12 current students who represent the Lundquist College in tours and information sessions for prospective students and their families and VIP guests. The position requires a significant level of independent judgment and autonomy in regards to work and travel planning. Some travel, both out-of-state and international, as well as work on evenings and weekends, will be required in order to perform the duties of this position.
Additionally, this position will provide academic advising services to a diverse population of undergraduate students pursuing business degree programs, primarily on a drop-in basis. This may include providing small group and individual advising, and meeting with prospective students and their families.
The Coordinator will work with faculty and staff from a variety of offices within the Lundquist College of Business and across the University campus including the Admissions Office, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, departmental offices, Center for Multicultural and Academic Excellence, Office of Academic Advising and Student Services, and International Affairs. This position will also have program coordination responsibilities that may require working closely with outside partners such as K-12 school officials.
This position will report to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs.
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in business, counseling, student services, marketing, or a related field. • One year admissions or student advising experience at college/university level (or equivalent).
Professional Competencies • Strong customer service orientation. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Strong computer skills. • Excellent time management and organization skills. • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills. • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with various diverse stakeholders, including students, alumni, families, administrators, and faculty.
Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in business, counseling, student services, marketing, or a related field. • At least three years student admissions and/or advising experience at a college/university. • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse group of students. • Strong background in the use of technology and social media in the delivery of admissions/advising services. • Project/event management skills. • Proficiency in both oral and written Spanish.
