Loyola University Maryland is seeking a Grounds Equipment Technician to join our grounds keeping team. This position is responsible for diagnosis, repair and maintenance of University owned grounds equipment. The Grounds Equipment Technician will also provide care and upkeep to the University grounds, landscape and athletic fields. Ensures that grounds maintenance and snow removal equipment is operational by performing routine and preventative maintenance on equipment. Diagnoses equipment problems in order to facilitate repair. Establishes a preventative maintenance schedule following manufacturer's recommendations. Alerts Assistant Director to equipment issues and concerns. Keeps equipment fleet in a condition so that routine landscape maintenance and snow removal can be efficiently performed. Maintains adequate inventory of parts and supplies to efficiently perform repairs. Facilitates repairs by outside vendors when necessary. Seeds, waters, plants and mulches outside plantings, lawn and turf. Trims, prunes, weeds and cultivates shrubs and ground cover. Rakes, sweeps and bags leaves from walking surfaces, beds and lawns. Removes trash and debris from all public areas by regularly inspecting grounds, including streets, sidewalks, and parking lots for debris. Mows lawns with riding or push mowers, trim and edge around trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, sidewalks and buildings. Operates snow blowers, tractors, pick-ups with blades and salters and shovel to remove salt and spread salt on snow and ice covered surfaces, including roads, walks, parking lots and athletic fields. This position is full time, Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4pm. High School Diploma or GED required. Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. 3 to 5 years of experience required. Must be able to operate a forklift, small grounds equipment, University vehicles, and power equipment of any kind. Must have the ability to support the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit education.
